Dear Reader,
Dandy and the Dognappers has been selling very well and already has 54 ratings on Amazon. So my heart-felt thanks to all of you who went out and bought it!
In addition to the first four audiobooks in this series, which are still on sale, the companion boxed set of the first four short stories, Victorian San Francisco Stories: Vol 1, is on sale for 99 cents on Chirp for twelve days.
The monthly mystery I am featuring from the Round Robin I have been participating in isn’t an historical under the strict definition of the genre, but I think some of you will enjoy the western setting. I also have a link to a BookFunnel promotion that features historical fiction and fantasy with strong female leads. I am thinking that Annie can hold her own with these other women! There is also the usual raffle for free Spotify codes for an audiobook.
And for those of you who are fans of my science fiction series, I have started writing the fifth (and final) book in the Caelestis series, the title is In Ddaera’s Embrace. My current goal is to have it done and published by early spring 2024 at the latest.
Finally, in my daily newsletter, An Aging Author’s Daily Diversions, I have been featuring what I call Historical Tidbits about San Francisco Teachers, and starting this coming Monday I will be publishing posts on University of California: Berkeley in the 1880s that are based on research I did for Scholarly Pursuits (the sixth book in my series.) If you want to see these posts, click HERE, and this is a reminder that this month’s raffle winners will get a free copy of that book’s audiobook edition on Spotify!

Round Robin Mystery for the Month
Penance on the Prairie, by R. L. Syme
One part Vicar of Dibley, one part amateur sleuth who loves pastries, set in the mountains of Montana where no one’s business is her own…
Between the police scanners, the coffee ladies, and the senior center, no secret is safe for long. But Vangie Vale wants nothing more than to stay under the radar...especially the police radar. So when her new business is linked to a murder investigation, nothing will stop the gossip mill from connecting her to the dead body. Can't have that.
In order to clear her good name and keep her face off the front page, this part-time-baker-part-time-pastor becomes extra nosy...with a little side of breaking-and-entering. But when she comes face-to-face with the Sheriff, Vangie can't ignore the fact that one of her macarons was involved in a murder. She has to find the real murderer.
Penance on the Prairies is the first book in the Vangie Vale Mysteries--a western-set female sleuth mystery. It used to be called "Vangie Vale and the Murdered Macaron." (This is the second edition.) Get your copy of this first book in series for FREE.
