M. Louisa Locke's Monthly Newsletter
I finished doing my editing of the first draft of the next Caelestis series novel, Tides of Acerba, and sent it off to my beta readers yesterday. It took some work, but I got the manuscript down from 143,000 words to 105,000 words. As a result, it is a much tighter, faster-paced book now. Next comes nail-biting time, as I wait for feedback. However, I can now say with confidence that the book will be published no later than the middle of May. In April’s newsletter, I will give you a sneak peek of the first chapter.
Once again, a reminder that you can get audiobook editions of books 1-3 in the Caelestis series at a discount on certain retailers through the end of March, ad the ebook edition of Between Mountain and Sea, the the first book in the series, remains free on all retailers.
Below is also information on how to get a free copy of the second in the series of historical mysteries by other authors that I will be featuring every month.
Finally, this month’s raffle for free Spotify codes is for Victorian San Francisco Stories: Volume 2. (By the way, so far I’ve been able to give codes to everyone who has participated, so don’t hesitate to reply if you enjoy audiobooks.)

Historical Mystery for the Month
Murder at the Front (Prequel to the Dora & Rex 1920s Mysteries)
When marrying at the front lines, there's always a chance that death will be a guest at the wedding.
Le Touquet, France, 1918 - Lady Dorothy entered into a marriage of convenience with her eyes wide open. But even she never expected to go from newlywed to newly widowed overnight.
When her husband is ambushed during a secret war mission, she's left with more questions than answers. How did the enemy know exactly where to find them? Why did only one man — Lord Rex — survive?
Luck may have saved him once, but Rex knows he can't count on good fortune to solve the mystery of why his fellow soldier was gunned down. Injury may have sidelined him from battle. It won't stop him from ferreting out the truth.
Dora's determination to prove her worth faces off against Rex's drive to avenge his fellow soldier. Only one of them is smart enough to unmask the traitor in their midst. The shocking reveal and subsequent fall-out will lead to a dramatic change in both of their lives.
