Locke's Promotional Newsletter: August 2022
Dear Reader,
I hope the summer has been going well for you, and you are looking forward to cooler weather, (or warmer if you are in the Southern hemisphere.) Here in San Diego, August through October are often our hottest months, so I am just hoping we make it through fire season unscathed. Given the heat and unusual humidity we are experiencing, I am finding that listening to audiobooks and podcasts are what is making my daily walks tolerable, and today I have a good number of discounts and recommendations to make for your listening pleasure.
First, however, a reminder that my newest novella, Mrs. Stein Solves a Crime, came out last month, and I am delighted with how many of you bought it and have already reviewed or ranked it favorably.
For my next work in progress, I’ve decided to go back to the Paradisi Chronicles and continue on where my Caelestis Series Trilogy (Between Mountain and Sea, Under Two Moons, and Through Ddaera’s Touch) left off.
That hadn’t been my plan for this summer and fall, but I was asked to do an interview for Edwin Rydberg’s podcast Alternate Futures, where he interviews indie authors of speculative fiction. SinceI knew he was going to want to talk about the Paradisi Chronicles (the multi-author science fiction world I helped create seven years ago), I reread my trilogy to get ready for the interview. In doing so, I was reminded of how much I loved the characters I had created for this series and the number of possible plot threads I had left for future books.
As a result, three weeks ago, I started writing a new book for the Caelestis series, tentatively titled Against the Tides of Acerba. I’m having a lot of fun, I already have 20,000 words written, and I will be sure to keep you up-to-date on my progress over the next few months. It is possible this will evolve into more than one book, but I do hope to have this first novel out by Christmas.
Here is the link if you would like to listen to the podcast that got me started on this new journey. I talk about being an indie writer, the origins of my mystery series, the creation of the Paradisi Chronicles, and the fun I have had writing in this collaborative world.
For you mystery fans, I would also like to recommend a podcast I just found, called Shedunnit, that focuses on the authors like Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers, and Josephine Tey who wrote books in what has been called the Golden Age of Detective Fiction.
Below are the discounts for this month of my Victorian San Francisco Mystery audiobooks. Also, I would like to give you all a heads up that starting September 13 the audiobook edition of my Caelestis Trilogy is going to be only $1.99 on Chirp. A good time to think about listening to these books to get ready for the next installment! I will provide the link in the September Newsletter.

These free codes are now redeemable by listeners in the United States, Canada, Australia, UK, and EU. For those of you in these countries, all you have to do is reply to this email by August 21 and say that you wish to participate, and your name will be entered in the raffle. Please check your spam folders during the following week, because I am sorry to say, often the two codes are not redeemed.
